Aprilaire Air Duct Cleaning in Houston: What to Know First
Aprilaire air duct cleaning in Houston typically costs between $450 and $900 for a full system, depending on home size and how long it’s been since the last cleaning. Most Aprilaire-equipped homes we service are done in a single visit, usually four to seven hours. We’re an independent Aprilaire service provider in Houston, not a manufacturer affiliate, and we quote one flat price per system before any work starts.
This page is for Houston homeowners who have Aprilaire filtration or humidity control tied into their ductwork and want the ducts cleaned without anyone disturbing a bypass damper, cracking a plenum, or leaving a mess in a hallway where a toddler naps. If that sounds like your house, call (940) 314-5008 and Paul Adeyemi will talk you through what we’ll do.
How Aprilaire Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Aprilaire 5000 electronic air cleaner pressure drop. The 5000 sits in the return plenum and collects a dense mat of charged particulates. Houston’s humidity makes that mat damp and sticky, which increases static pressure and forces the blower to work harder. We clean the 5000 cabinet and cells during duct service, then re-check airflow so the system isn’t straining after we leave. If the cells are at end of life, we’ll show you the condition on the video inspection and discuss replacement honestly.
- Aprilaire 600 series bypass humidifier mineral buildup. Houston water is hard, and the 600 series water panel turns into a crusted block within a season. That crust flakes and gets pulled into the supply duct. When we clean ducts on a house with a 600, we always inspect the water panel and the drain line. We don’t upsell; we show you the panel and let you decide.
- Aprilaire 2210 media filter cabinet bypass leaks. Older 2210 cabinets in Houston homes sometimes have a gap between the filter and the cabinet frame because a previous tech forced the wrong filter size. That gap lets dirty air slip past the filter and coat the supply ducts. We’ve seen it in houses throughout the Heights and Montrose, and it’s one of the first things we check. A properly seated Aprilaire 413 filter solves it, and we’ll tell you if that’s all you need.
- Aprilaire 8120X ventilation damper stuck open. The 8120X brings outdoor air into the return. In Houston’s muggy months, when that damper sticks open, outdoor humidity pours into the duct system continuously. You’ll notice supply registers sweating or a musty smell that keeps coming back even after cleaning. We check damper operation on every Aprilaire ventilation system we service, because cleaning ducts while the damper is stuck open just fills them up again.
- Aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier condensate backing into supply duct. The 1850 pulls gallons of water out of Houston air, but when its internal drain clogs, that water pools and backs into the supply side. That gets moldy fast. We inspect the 1850 drain path on any Houston home where the owner reports a musty smell only on the supply side. We’re not going to sell you a mold remediation; we’re going to clear the line and clean the affected duct, then verify airflow with the meter.

Our Aprilaire Air Duct Cleaning Process
Here’s what a typical Aprilaire air duct cleaning job looks like from the first call to the final walkthrough:
- 1
You call, a person answers. Not a voicemail. Not a chatbot. You describe the system, the Aprilaire equipment in place, and what you’ve noticed. Paul or a senior tech asks a few questions and sets the appointment.
- 2
We inspect before we quote. On arrival, we walk the house with you, look at every return and supply register, open the air handler cabinet, and check the Aprilaire equipment. We use a video camera to look inside ducts before anything gets touched.
- 3
You get a written price. One flat price per system, before any work starts. That price includes the cleaning itself, the Aprilaire filter and humidifier panel inspection, and the cleanup. It does not change once work begins.
- 4
We protect the house, then clean. Shoe covers, drop cloths, and pet areas blocked off. We use Rotobrush and Nikro equipment on the ductwork, working room by room. We’re careful around napping kids and will work around your schedule if you tell us.
- 5
We re-check the Aprilaire equipment. After the ducts are clean, we check filter fit, damper function, humidifier drain, and dehumidifier line. If an Aprilaire panel or filter needs replacing, we show you the old one and quote a replacement price separately.
- 6
You get proof before we leave. We photograph the cleanup, every register back in place, floors protected, and the completed condition of the system. If anything isn’t right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies, full stop.

AfterWhat Aprilaire Air Duct Cleaning Costs in Houston
Here’s the honest pricing picture for Houston homes with Aprilaire equipment:
- Full system cleaning, single return, up to 10 supply vents: $450 – $620
- Full system cleaning, two returns, 10 – 18 supply vents, plus Aprilaire 5000 or 2210 cabinet cleaning: $600 – $800
- Larger homes with 18+ vents, multiple Aprilaire units, or long trunk lines in attics and crawlspaces: $800 – $950

- Aprilaire water panel replacement (600 series): $35 – $60, quoted separately
- Aprilaire 413 media filter replacement: $60 – $95, quoted separately
What moves the price is the size of the system, how accessible the ductwork is, and whether the Aprilaire equipment needs extra attention. We never quote per-vent pricing, and we never raise the price after the work begins. Call (940) 314-5008 and we’ll give you a flat price over the phone after a few questions, or after an in-person inspection if you prefer.
Why Houston Homeowners Call Mortons Air Duct Houston for Aprilaire Work
We’ve been cleaning duct systems in Houston since 2005, and the Aprilaire name shows up in a lot of the homes we service across the Heights, Katy, Sugar Land, and Pearland. Paul Adeyemi, our owner, picked up his trade knowledge at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending the better part of two decades working on Houston duct systems, including older Heights houses where the registers are painted over four times and the return drops haven’t been opened in twenty years. That kind of slow, methodical work is what he teaches every tech.
Every job we complete is stamped with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right. And on top of that, we work to the Cedarwell Care Promise: written price before work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, background-checked uniformed technicians, and a photo of the cleanup before we leave. We also service Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems, so if your Aprilaire setup is paired with another brand’s furnace or air handler, one crew handles it all.
Paul says it best: “I’ll tell you what I see, what it’ll take, and what it’ll cost – before I touch a thing.”
FAQs
No. We clean the ductwork, not the Aprilaire equipment itself, and we take care around Aprilaire filter cabinets, bypass dampers, and humidifier housings. Our techs are trained not to disturb any component that wasn’t part of the cleaning scope, and we actually inspect those components afterward to make sure everything is operating as it was before we started.
Aprilaire’s warranty covers manufacturing defects in their equipment, not the ductwork itself. Routine duct cleaning does not void an Aprilaire warranty, as long as the equipment itself isn’t disassembled or modified. That said, we use professional equipment from Rotobrush and Nikro and we don’t take apart Aprilaire cabinets beyond opening the access panel for filter and panel inspection.
Lower quotes usually mean per-vent pricing or a basic “blow and go” approach that doesn’t clean the full system. We’ve seen Houston homes where a company charged $99 for ten vents and left the return ducts untouched. We quote one flat price per system and clean everything: supply side, return side, plenum, and the Aprilaire components that affect airflow. Honest work costs what it costs, and we’d rather tell you that upfront than surprise you later.
Because we show you. We use a video inspection camera before and after, and you can watch the screen while we’re working if you want. The included inspection footage shows the inside of the cabinet and the ductwork after cleaning. You’ll also get a photo of the cleaned cabinet and the registers back in place before our crew leaves.
Most homes in Houston do well with a full duct cleaning every three to five years. Homes with pets, kids, or a lot of recent renovation dust may need it more often. If you have an Aprilaire 5000 electronic air cleaner, the cells need more frequent attention than the ducts themselves because they collect heavily in Houston’s humid air. We’ll give you an honest recommendation based on what we see, not a reminder calendar. Call (940) 314-5008 and we’ll walk you through it.
